Opus One
Opus
One was founded by Baron Philippe de Rothschild, legendary proprietor of
Chateau Mouton Rothschild and renowned Napa Valley vintner Robert Mondavi. Showing
a lustrous dark ruby, the 2004 presents aromas of violets, cedar, black
tea leaves, black pepper and brioche. A soft, creamy entry gives way
to a concentrated mid-palate that expands in the mouth and lingers on the
finish. Elements of cassis, toffee and cocoa round out the rich
flavors of the wine. Intense fruit, bright acid and sturdy tannins
promise resilience and longevity. The
2004 Opus One is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4% Petit
Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Malbec. By
combining the great winemaking traditions and innovations of both
families, the founders' and singular goal was to create and exceptional
wine in the heart of the Napa Valley. Opus
One, like any great work, arose out of passion. Opus One's sole
purpose is to express the vision and passionate spirit for generations to
come.
