First time this beer has been in distribution and accessible to the loyal Red Carpet patron. Lost Abbey has been known for bottle conditioning issues lately but every now and then they hit a homerun. Cuvee de Tomme is one avant garde beer.

Beer Advocate Rating: A

Appearance: Pours a murky chestnut brown with amber highlights near the edges. Medium to low carbonation.

Smell: Lots of oak, sour red grapes and cherries, bit of vanilla in the background. Acidity is imposing, but sweet and tart with hints of dried cranberries.

Taste: Fairly vinous and tart, with flavors of grape skin, vinegar, cherries; acidity hits in the throat but is gentle; the finish is coated in oak and pleasantly dry with some lingering acidity.

Mouth: Similar in consistency to white wine. Not much carbonation but the acidity carries each sip.

Drink: For what this is, it's very well done. The tartness masks a good slice of that 12% ABV. There's complexity but balance, which makes it a great sipper. If anything, it's heavy on dry, woody characteristics and I don't mind that. Definitely wish I would have grabbed another bottle or two.
