There’s a story in every bottle of wine...

IN 1996, DAD DECIDED he wanted to plant something in the backyard. He had never grown anything before, not even a tomato plant, but grapes seemed to be doing well in his area. “We’ll just test it out,” he reasoned with us. And then he planted nine acres of cabernet sauvignon. The naysayers (his own family) were baffled. “He doesn’t even drink wine,” we murmured. But once Dad has his mind set on something, pity the obstacle that stands in his way. And thankfully, Mom is a farmer’s daughter.

Mother nature can be an uncontrollable and formidable companion. Before we could see the first fruits of our labor, “The Highway 58 Fire” destroyed thousands of acres in our area. We were lucky — our house and my Dad’s woodworking shop were spared. Our newborn vineyard was destroyed.

This was the moment when many would take the insurance money and let go of the dream. However, Dad’s motto is: “’No’ means ‘find another way’”. My parents replanted the vines (again, despite more heated protests from the naysayers) on soil that became richer from the embers. Now, Eden Canyon Vineyards produces wines that have earned an accolade here and there. It must have something to do with mother nature, naysayers, and a few stubborn dreamers.

Ruby tones with blueberry, chocolate, and cassis notes... this beauty has earned her name.
Jolie is our first Bordeaux style blend. Comprised of 88% estate Cabernet Sauvignon
and 12% Petit Verdot, “Jolie” aged in new and neutral French and American oak barrels.

2005 Eden Canyon “Estate” Cabernet Sauvignon $33.95
“The Chocolate Vintage” — This unfiltered cab aged for 21 months in new and neutral American,
French, and Hungarian oak barrels. It’s medium bodied with soft tannins and flavors of chocolate,
blueberry, black cherry, fig, cassis, sweet tobacco, and licorice.

2005 Eden Canyon “Reserve” Cabernet Sauvignon $43.95
The combination produced a beautiful yield of chocolate, blueberry, and strawberry flavors, so we
decided to make our first “Reserve” wine. This unfiltered cab aged for 21 months in 100% new
French Allier, Tronçais, and Centre oak barrels.
